Atlas – Dark, super-heavy, vicious and most important…really really good.

Atlas are a band from Holland and they play a drone and black metal inspired (hardcore-) punk mix. First bands/constellations that came to my mind: Extinction (the “Down Below the Fog” Demo is a masterpiece) playing with Hexis, Neurosis and some other evil stuff.

Based on their facebook and bandcamp (both with “hc”) I thought that they would be just another modern hardcore band or whatever but I was so wrong. So wrong. This is far away from generic hardcore stuff and one of the most abrasive EP’s I’ve heard this year. Truly evil. Even if I repeat myself…this is evil. And extremely good.

It starts quite stormless but minute by minute the soundwall builts up more and more, becomes heavier, more grim and morbid. All four songs are ponderous and completely convincing. On top…the artwork rules so hard.

Can’t believe that this is their first release. Ok…the production could be better but I don’t care. It’s rad anyway haha.

Next Tour: Hexis, This Gift is a Curse and Atlas…would be mega-awesome.
