Kilgore Trout – Immemorial
“i apologize
i recognize
i am not myself
but a thousand places and people
accidents that have always formed
the paths we take
we are not sculptures of marble
created in vacuums
we are emergent from the lives
and the worlds around us
layers of dust fall by chance
and turn to the rock of existence
still, reaching for the light
shedding weight and dead skin
i know the threads are there
still, reaching for the light
since time immemorial
bound not by choice, but by fate
still, reaching for the light
we are eternal, and temporary
we are
still reaching for the light”
Kilgore Trout – Fuckin A. 4 seconds of the first track were enough to know this EP would be a killer.
Amazing abrasive 4-piece screamo/violence band from annandale, virginia (formed in 2008). They play some heartfelt tunes with a grindy-edge somewhere between Usurp Synapse, aspergers, CTTS, The Usual and Burn her letters.
“could we be beginning and end? (i have known)
we’ve made these meanings ours.
we’ve made these meanings ours.”
The massive sound incorporates all good trademarks of screamo and emoviolence: fast and ultra-heavy blasting attacks, melodic guitar parts and great tranquil moments (like in “mechanism (emergent)”). “reified” and “in dust, in shadow, in nothing” (3:22 min – goosebumps-time) are two of the best tracks I’ve heard in…I don’t know…months, anyhow a long time. Pretty catching, infectious but always right in your face with its despair and fierceness. A tempest. A screamo bastard in the most beautiful way. So happy that I’ve found them, hope you’ll like them too.
“to think of all that is lost
in earth, in smoke, in dust, in shadow, in nothing”
Highly recommended

Nostalgia del Absoluto – Duelo
“Mi cabeza es el pilar de éste cuerpo antiguo que muere.
No me atrevo a mirar el final.
Cuervos vengan mi razón de ser, y me alejan de la verdad.
CUERVOS.
Sufro el silencio.
No encuentro el latir del mar.
El sentir de las olas.
Arrecifes que atrapan mis glorias pasadas.”
(from ‘Negación’)
Nostalgia del Absoluto – Terrific.
Some awesome devastating and noisy hardcore/screamo stuff from Madrid, Spain. Their s/t titled debut was pretty solid too, but this EP totally kills it, especially the production is much more intense. Alberto, Jorge, Juan and Miguel have written little fucked up hymns about regrets and inner struggles always overflowing you with this incredible and staggering heaviness. Exploding amalgam of bands such as Index For Potenial Suicide, Proverbs, Hessian and Hexis, hard to describe. Their sound includes everything which is needed to tear down and hate fucking everything. Mess, mess everywhere. Also the intros and vocals work great with this dark and vigorous, sometimes blasting, sound-background. Well done guys.
So yeah. Great EP, great band…check them and spread the word.
“I can’t find the heartbeat of the sea.”
Later this year they are going to release a split EP with Eros + Massacre on Driftwood Records, try keep an eye on that and support them.

uragano – s/t EP
(from “Colazione”)
uragano – Great debut EP.
Uragano (“Hurricane” in english) is a new young 2-piece band from italy formed in 2013. Their sound can be best described as a experimental mix of screamo attacks in the veins of bands such as Antithesis, D’amore or Raein who alternate with mid-tempo/sometimes spoken-word-like parts, maybe think of old The Appleseed Cast (“The End of Ring War” times).
For example…the two longest tracks “Freddo” and “Colazione” are showing up the huge potential of the band combining every hard and softer influence in the best possible way. “Un Cappello” and “Sanremo” just killing it with heavy and fast emotive breakouts. Awesome stuff.
The lyrics are completely written in italian and if “google translate” isn’t wrong they are pretty good, with a focus on emotional personal/relationship issues.
“300 days without you. I’m fine in the end, without you.”
Highly recommended.
